4bt cummins jeep build log

I have been in the process of building a 3.9l 4bt cummins to transplant into a 2000 jeep tj sport Engine build specs-std pistons with ceramic coated crown-acd stage 1 cam-head completely rebuilt with new valve seats, guides, and new valves-all new bearings from acd-acd fuel pin and 3200 rpm gov spring in the ve pump-he341 also known as hy35d turbo from a 2004 5.9 cummins with a 9 cm exhaust housing-5.9 exhaust manifold cut down to fit the 4bt and ports reshaped

Reply:Cut apart a intake elbow from a 24v cummins and will tig weld it back to be used in my configuration

Reply:Very nice build... Now this is going into a jeep? Lol my goodness this is going to be a tight squeeze!! The weight on the front end... what type of Axles are you going to be running? I would suggest something on the lines of a Dana w/ 4.10 gears. Your putting a 5.5 lift on the front and rear correct? Is it going to be coil over springs? Do you know the Gross weight on that engine after its all said and done with your add-ons? You will have to cut your hood and put a very large Cowl on there. with real air intakes. Reply:Yea that springs right there will hold some weight lol(I am referring to the spring on the right). I forget, but the shock rides on the inside of the spring and it all sits on top of the front leaf springs correct? Have not looked at that model jeep in a long time. How much longer until you start working on the truck itself? You just about have the diesel wrapped up. Just a few more bells and whistles.

There are no leafs on a TJ, it is a coil spring setup, you would never have both as that would make for a very intersting ride with 2 springs constantly fighting each other and the shocks are outside the springs.

Reply:Got the flywheel back from the machine shop and went to work on the clutch, I sourced a new pilot bearing from the local bearing supply but the minor diameter is 1mm to large so I made a bushing the is pressed into the bearing and has a good slip fit over the input shaft
