My work has a little weld pak-100 and Im looking to hook up the gas option for the first time. should I get straight argon or should I get a mix and is there a standard mix raisio or what? Im looking to weld standard stuff 2x2, 2x4 metal and maybe some alum. TIADon
Reply:Straight Argon is for Alum. C25 is the most common for steel. There are other steel mixes but its complex. Personally,,, I would skip the thought of welding alum with that machine. Alum sucks up so much power and that little machine just doesnt have it and if you find material light enough such as pop or beer cans its just going to blow thru it. The best case scenario is you will stop short of throwing it under a truck from frustration. You will want 023 wire and it will be good on 1/8 material or less at the top (more like 12ga really). Those were designed for sheet metal like auto body work.Last edited by Sberry; 08-16-2004 at 10:10 PM.www.urkafarms.com |
