Reply:general projects, small stuff. No cars or big things. Would a CH gun work for small projects??StangnetShop Full Of Stuff. Joey
Reply:Yes, a common spray gun but I am not sure about a CH, never used one. I was at a flea mkt a while back and they had a box of one time use test guns from the CH factory and I sorted thru them just to see what they were like. I think they were about 20$ and out of 10 I found 2 or 3 that looked pretty good, that had super smooth actions. That doesnt say how they would spray but the machine work was suprisingly good. If I needed another gun I would have bought one.  A pawn shop is good to look too, an old DeVilbiss is good, they are very adjustable and can really put out the paint.  A touchup gun, one of those Taiwan jobs are really good too, you can paint a lot of stuff with one, good for car rims etc.  Easy to clean and especially with modern paint will use small amounts well.  Mine will really put out the paint and has a great pattern. Rattle cans are mostly thinner, very little paint, so even in a touch up gun cup, 7ozs of paint goes a long way and does a much better job.Last edited by Sberry; 10-20-2004 at 11:40 AM.www.urkafarms.com
Reply:Touch up guns are handy because you can clean the whole thing in a coffee can or better yet one of the one gallon spackle buckets. Also lets you get familiar with guns at a lower cost."The things that will destroy America are prosperity at any price, peace at any price, safety first instead of duty first, the love of soft living and the get rich quick theory of life." -Theodore Roosevelt
Reply:i like the touch up's size, i might get a small siphon feed from home depotStangnetShop Full Of Stuff. Joey
Reply:I dont even use a can to clean one, I use a rag and I can clean a gun and flush it with about 6 oz of thinner. I use my touch up a lot, I can mix 6 oz of paint and heavily coat a truck wheel and it sucks it right down to the end. I use almost all 2 part paints and primers and it needs to mix as you go, any left over needs to be tossed. Common enamals for the beginner are good, not so hazardous and thin with mineral spirits and you can pour the left over back in the can. My cheapie touch up like Viper would find at HD works really well the adjustments are great and would help the learning curve. Its got a good pattern and if you want to turn the paint up it will come darn near as fast as a full size gun. I often cut in with it on tractors and it saves a good amount of paint, I blast a light coat overall, then come back in with the touchup to get the places that the final wet coat isnt going to get. Saves a lot of runs this way too.Last edited by Sberry; 10-21-2004 at 01:13 PM.www.urkafarms.com
Reply:Here is one, Imron, but dirty and dusty Attached Imageswww.urkafarms.com
Reply:Here is another, John Deere tractor enamal on this one with a touch of gloss hardner thrown in.  The Imron is definately superior but is hazzardous to spray without the right equipment. Attached ImagesLast edited by Sberry; 10-21-2004 at 01:30 PM.www.urkafarms.com
