I'm finishing up a side job in December and looking for a cutting torch. I had initially thought of getting a plasma cutter but the amount of cutting I will do is not worth it. Now I have got some oxy/act torch heads and looked on the Ebay for regulators and lines when I ran across this Henrob 2000. Has anyone used one of these units? Its selling at about 360.00 and when I looked at the web site videos of cutting 1/2" steel, I am impressed. I don't want to throw away 400 bucks if its a P.O.S. Any input would greatly be appreciated. Thanx Chris.
Reply:I have never used one but from compentant guys that have say its worth the 36$ but not the 360. There should be some past threads on a couple of these forums. I guess it works to some extent but obviously hant taken the fab world by storm. In this business there is constant pressure for cheaper faster easier. From what I heard guys didnt really knock it real bad but it was a mutual feeling that they wouldnt buy it again for that price.Last edited by Sberry; 11-23-2004 at 12:13 AM.www.urkafarms.com
Reply:I use mine for about a 2 weeks before I put it up on eBay and got rid of it. Thought I would like the pistol grip style but it always had your hand real close to the heated metal and the ergo of the thing was off for my liking.  Way too much money for something that I was never able, nor did I believe I'd ever get close to, using as it was in the video.
Reply:I bought one after seeing it demoed at a car show. Wanted it as an alternative to the big cutting torch I had.For me it was very cumbersome because I had the typical full size hoses hooked to it. Sort of gave the feeling of putting a 10# weight on your mig nozzle because of the hose weight   It sits on the shelf now that I have a plasma cutter. I have been thinking of buying the smaller and lightweight 6' hose extensions so it is easier to handle. Just don't have a burning reason to try that now though.I'll agree it gets real hot close to your hand if you are cutting plate 1/4" or up. That stupid heat shield just gets in my way.I want to do a bunch of  lightweight art brazing here in the future so I may get it out again.
Reply:I appreciate the input guys. I am looking for something to cut metal with and have not got a torch yet. I have used an oxy/act torch but just for a day, therefor I have not gotten accustomed(sp?) to anything yet. Does it meet its claims for cutting steel? I would like to spend that kind of money rather than the big bucks for a plasma cutter. I do have torch heads which I may use with it. Does anyone want to get rid of the one they have?
