I have been given the unfortunate task of welding what seem's like miles of angle iron. I am building pesticide spray equipment for the shop that I work for . The material is 3" wide by either 1/4 or 1/2" thick. I have no idea the kind of steel it is or it's strength. I have to make beautifull welds and they have to have to hold 4-500 lb's . Oh and did I mention that it has to be done with an old ac/dc arc welder that's the size of a buick!! What sort of rod would you recommend that would give me strong and deep penetrating welds??/ I apppreciate all the help.Remember: You cannot teach a crab to walk straight and a leopard never changes it's spots
Reply:I would recommend using either a 6010 5p+++++ or a 6011 on ac.jon rawlinson
Reply:hti ti with 6010 then go over with 7018 . 7018 has a nice finish when you get the heat right the slag with just fall off.
Reply:Prepare the joints properly and use either 6010 on DC or 6011 on AC or DC. Hank
Reply:Just run 7018 on them, there isnt really any reason to run a root for this type of weld. I am not sure why you would need deep penetration for realitively low strength requirements. DCRPwww.urkafarms.com
Reply:I Would us 7018 DCRP in one pass
