I'm looking for the best alum spool gun  to buy ????? give me some good ans to which one my money can buy---best or worst typ that any one no's about  dcwelderKEEP STICKING

Reply:I have had an older Miller spoolmatic for years, and I never really liked it- it works, and I have welded a lot of aluminum with it, but it still has burnback problems in the tip, and occasional birdsnesting. But I think they all might.I also have a Miller XR push pull system- yeah, it cost a bunch more than a spool gun- but it works all the time, the burnback with aluminum is a lot less, and it takes full size spools of wire. This is a big advantage- those little 1lb rolls are expensive, and they always run out at the wrong time.Plus, the push pull is usable with any power source, so I often plug it in to my trailblazer, and use it for onsite wire feeding of steel, aluminum, or stainless. And the push pull has a 30 ft lead on the gun, plus another 25 ft or so on the feeder, so it can go a long ways from your power source. I would seriously look at these- cobramatics are similar.
Reply:Try the Miller Spoolmate 3035 or 3545.  A lot less expensive and much easier to load, adjust, and repair than Miller's Spoolmatic or Lincoln's spoolgun.  Plus, I run it off a Lincoln Ranger 8 and have run it off of my work place's Lincoln Wirematic 255.  The latter of which a local Miller dealer Tech said couldnt be done.  It was done and with the included hookups from Miller and without any butchering of the Wirematic or spoolgun.A few of my toys !LinuxMintManjaroMiller Roughneck 2E Lincoln WeldPak 100HTP MTS 160 Chicago Electric 80amp Inverter   Victor O/A
