I am not sure which I should get first. Leaning toward HTP 201 tig, but I've never tried tig. I have done a little mig, repairing hollow metal door frames. Right now I'm not sure what all I will be welding, but I want to try it all. Currently making a minature english wheel for a friends retirement. One day I want a mig, the next day (after reading from Richard Finch's book) I want a tig. Any suggestions?
Reply:Get HTP's MTS 160. It is a combo machine, stick, tig, and mig. One thing, you will not be able to tig aluminum as it is a dc only machine and you need ac to tig aluminum. It is almost half the price as the 201 but it is also lower in total output amps, another thing to consider. I purchased one about 6 months ago and havent regreted it yet. Weighs about 40 pounds, 220volts and portable for its size. It is also an inverter machine.
