Why don't we get a thread started where its got all of our favorite websites to buy all of our different stuff from.  Like where we like to buy our metal, our tools, our parts, whatever.  Websites such as:metalsdepot.comshopoutfitters.comweldingdepot.com
Reply:www.airgas.com. They have a friendly shop really close to my house.-Dallas J

Reply:How about we put pretty much all of our favorite sites on here, too, just to get some variety, such as sites that we get some of our ideas from, great project sites, and just fun sites (that are relevant) that we enjoy going to
Reply:I'm fond of http://www.thefabricator.comThey have some great articles, like:A primer on titanium tube and pipe...http://www.thefabricator.com/Article...icle.cfm?ID=22How to choose consumables:http://www.thefabricator.com/Article...le.cfm?ID=1100    -- and--http://www.thefabricator.com/Article...le.cfm?ID=1118Even though a lot of the articles are written by industry folks, there is some good info to be had.And while I'm here, I have to plug my personal fave, www.arc-zone.com which is where I work ;-)--CE
Reply:The problem with airgas is that they can't fill tanks. Normally an exchange is fine, but they won't take some types of older cylinders. I buy most of my consumables from here, since they'll either exchange or fill whatever I bring in. (http://arcgasproducts.onsmartpages.com)-David
Reply:I deal with airgas, and I am not sure of your local branch, but mine fills some of my odd ball tanks regularly with no questions asked.  The reason they may not take older cylinders is because they are out of date and/or they are owned by some other company.  The hole deal with bottles can get pretty complicated.  There are laws dealing with them, and I know of one small welding supply business owner who did some pretty serious time over dealings with bottles he didn't own.  That is why most places are pretty strict on there bottle rules.  ~Jacksonwww.arc-zone.comwww.weldingmart.comwww.ebay.comI'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:This wasn't really a legal issue since I don't lease tanks. My local airgas places (lovely San Jose,CA) just don't have facilities to fill tanks on-site, it's all done back east somewhere and shipped in by railcar. Normally this is fine, but if they don't want your oddball cylinder as an exchange you're SOL. I don't really care whether they exchange my tanks or not, I just want gas stuck in 'em.
Reply:Try this collection of sites.  Fill your boots!http://www.stagesmith.com/Metal-links.html
