For those of you who have 14" chop saws. I recently purchased a Milwaukee and it came with 1 blade. Its time for a new blade & I would like to buy a couple of extra blades. Have you found a particular brand name of blades to last longer than others? Thanks in advance,JRF
Reply:I worked in a sign shop as the awning fabricator for 6 years, and the wheels we usedwould last 2 to 1 over other brands. (3/32" wide) The brand is P'FERD (running horse brand) form germany, the only place i ever found them is Jack Moore associates in Worcester, MA. I would make a couple thousand cuts a day on 16 guage tubing, and they would last three months or so.
Reply:rbucc, I can get P'FERD disks from one of my local supplier, but I never got anywhere close to that amount of cut time. Hell, I can't get three months from a carbide saw. Unless I have been buying the wrong disks I don't think any abrasive disk would last 2000 cuts much less 2000 a day for 3 months. Hell you are talking 180,000 cuts. That seems to be a little unbelievable. As far as abrasive disks of any type go you usually get what you pay for. I have had best luck with Norton, or Walter abrasives. Sait has also been a good disk in my experience.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:hammack, did I mention I was cutting 1"x1" 16 ga galv. tubing? We converted to a Hitachi drycut saw and the blade wouldn't even last a month at $180 per blade. If you bind a carbide blade it is very dangerous. The abrasive is much more forgiving though. Oh, sorry I got off the subject.......any ways if the abrasive blade is treated right I have had it last that long (I am very frugal) and used every bit I could. Also sorry to be misleading we didn't make 2000 cuts every day. That would be amazing if it lasted that long! |
