Which one to get?

Well stop by here and read a couple of great posts and thought i would try my luck see what you guys thought,  Im looking to buy a welder to help me save some $$ on my restro project (most of the body panels came free with the truck  ) Its been a realy long time since ive done any Mig welding and that was back in my army days ive done some stick welding which is perty easy for me and was wondering if you guys could recommend which type of welder to go with i read all these reviews on the 110 and 220 Mig welders and some "Shade tree" Buddies of mine tell me there the way to go.  What im looking for is a 110 strong enough for Mild wilding around the house or should I i go with the 220 and should i have to run gas to it to do minor body panel work even tho they have the flex core wire stuff now?Thanks ahead of time.Travis
Reply:I would look at the Miller DVI, I dont know your price range but one of my buddies bought it about a year ago and its pretty nice machine. I have welded with it many times.  Its 110 for some settings like the first 3 and 220 for the last 2 settings.  You just change the end of the cord, it comes with both.  I have a 210 and if the dvi was out when i bought mine i would have seriously considered it instead.  Think it is just under 1100. Still love the 210 tho .

Reply:My Miller DVI is eight days old, and it is working great in both 110 and 220.I think it is better to use gas than to use flux core wire when welding body panels. Attached Images

Reply:JohnnyWeld,I use a couple of 251's in my shop, and weld on 18 gauge...but to do it you have to guess at the low settings (I'm used to it now) and be fast on the fly!I ended up buying a MillerMatic 135,110v. It's worked out good on small sheet metal and up to 3/16 for me.(as a side note....they say the 135 is rated for 90 amps with a 20% duty cycle, but I have taxed all my millers to the extreme and have never nuked one of 'em)That 251 has run .045 ESAB 80s wire when changing shanks and teeth out on Gieth 3 yd.
