I've been doing a ton of butt and filler welding with  .025 MIG wire with a 75/25 gas mixture. But I found a spool of .023 wire at Alamo Iron Works cheap so I put it on my machine. I practiced las night filling some holes and just trying to get the feel for it. It seems to allow me to lay some pretty flat weld lines and fill holes nice. But what are some of the other differences from that of the .025 wire size. An Yup Sandy I finally go my own machine.Weld-Pak 100 Mig. New to welding and melting anything metal

Reply:Well I stayed small so I got a Lincoln Weld pak 100 HD. Right now all my stuff is going to be light steel type welding. I'm really thinking about my next project salvage vehicle. I'm pretty much done welding on the current project truck so I'm just prepping it for paint. But I really like the Lincoln Weld Pak 100. It just seems to really run smooth and has a really good duty cycle. As fas welding with it, I can move the weld pool around with the best of them and I've finally learned the art of a good pool VS a big puddle. But Eventually I think I might move into a 220 machine. But for now All my metal will be fairly thin. I Was having some fun the other night just plugging holes vertically on the metal and with the new machine and .023 wires size it seem real easy to get a got stick on the top part of the hole and lead the puddle around it. So for now weld pak's the way to go. I owe you some pictures of that new invisible weld line we talked about. But I want to match in the paint so you can "Try" and find it. Also for grins I went back to my very first weld attempt and just grinned.. and then tore it apart and re-did it. Have a great night and again, thanks Sandy for all you have taught me. Oh and I learned not weld up side down without my welding shirt closed. eeeeeeyyyyooowwww MarioWeld-Pak 100 Mig. New to welding and melting anything metal
Reply:I don't think the lincoln 100's will ever outlive their usefullness. No matter what size of machines you add to your arsenal, it will always be a great machine for what you are using it for.  Glad you got one. Sounds like you've got it dialed in. That's great. I wanna see some pics of that truck now!!!
