i have been tig welding for two years on aluminum and now i am getting certified in all aspects of the trade, mig tig stick, just wondering what kind of pay to expect if i was to move to alberta. Also has anyone heard of supreme international in alberta.
Reply:Where are you located right now?The pay scale starts around CDN$35,000 all the way to CDN$60,000, maybe even more depending on the risk factors.
Reply:windsor ontario
Reply:if you are ticketed you can expect 60 000 plus a year but you wont get that at supreme international you need to go into oilfield work supreme builds fertilizer spreaders for the agricultural industry.. pay is less
Reply:i have a family can i expect to find a job that will get me home every night or do you have to stay in the field for certain amount of time.
Reply:also what kind of welding is used in the oil fields and what are they looking for as far as expierience and tickets, do you need just a welding certificate or cwb or red seal.
Reply:If you're looking for steady hours, oil field work won't be right for you. It's usually shift work. But then again, it might pay enough that your wife can stay at home with the kids...
Reply:i dont mind the shift work i just dont want to be gone for three days at a time.
Reply:If you want to pipeline or want to be involved with well drilling you can expect to be gone for days at a time. But there are also plenty of fab shops around that work mon to fri and their wages are competitive. If your familiar with the mills and plants, the lumber mills pay their welders very well. |
