on my 251 i have the dual tank rack and i cant decide what gases to get....should i get one 100% co2 bottle and one 75%/25% CO2 argon mix, i have a change to get a cheap Smith H1960-580 Argon regulator, i could use that on my 75/25 bottle and then get a CO2 regulator for my CO2 bottle....and for a noobie welder, what would be the best gas for me to start with? I've done some research and i know that 100% CO2 will get better penetration but will be sloppier, and i know that a 75/25 mix doesnt get as much penetration but looks alot betterthanks, spencer
Reply:Some good info on GMAW gas.http://files.aws.org/wj/2006/02/wj20...j200602-46.pdf
Reply:a couple things to consider are. how much will you use the welder, and how thick you will be welding with it. if you will use it alot, but wont be welding anything near the machines limits I would say get 2 75/25 tanks (let the machines power makeup for the lesser penetration) to last longer between fills. however if you wont be welding alot and WILL be pushing the machine to its limits then I think you have the right idea with 1 75/25 and 1 co2 tank.
Reply:i wont be welding alot, it will probably take me six months to use two tanks up.....im gonna be building bumpers for my friends rigs, shackles, roll cages, etc.....i think im gonna go for one of each...thanks for the link pulser |
