I was wondering if someone can make me a list of metals stronger (highest tensile strength) then AR 500?From what I think the list goes like this:Mild steelT1AR 200AR 400AR 500I am referring to flat plate type steel. So whats stronger then AR 500?
Reply:A question probably best put past your supplier. Usually with strength you need to deal with brittleness, something to consider. The other option is to contact someone in the earth moving business. They seem to make use of a bit of high strength plate.Dave
Reply:If there is something stronger....I sure wouldn't want to pay for it!
Reply:I think that first off, you need to consider that task at hand before you consider a "stronger" steel. A wizards stated, with higher strength somes brittleness. A stronger steel isn't alway the best solution. Buy a Machinists Handbook, or borrow one if you can. It has uses for different types of steel, mostly tool steel, btu it will give you an idea of what I am talking about. What is it that you need? Abrasion resistance? Sharp edges for cutting? Tony |
