Hello,I was considering buying the Hobart 210 mig welder, and I was wanting to know if this is a good welder to buy and if anybody has encountered any problems with one.thanksjdw
Reply:If buying new I think i would rather have a Miller 210. If used go ahead if it's a good deal. Toolking ( Corect me if I'm wrong Mac ) has reburished Hobarts from time to time though I'm not sure if they ever get any 210's.DennisThermal Arc 185-TSWMillermatic Challenger 172VictorO/AAtlas Craftsman 12 by 24 LatheEsab PCM-875Wholesalem Tool Mill-Drill
Reply:Anything by Hobart, Lincoln, Miller and even Clarke is a decent machine. People will always have their opinions what is best and what has the best features. I like my blue machines and the Hobart is basically a re-named highly marketed blue machine.John - fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!- bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:It is a good machine, but if you are buying it new, a MM210 would be a much better buy. It has a much better duty cycle and guts. The IM210 is more of a hobby type machine where the MM210 is a light industrial. Where the IM210 sits duty cycle rating and actual useable power is between the 175/180 class small migs and the MM210. It is not on the same level as the MM210. Plus, the MM210 is only a hundred to a few hundred more. Money well spent, IMO. Even if I upgrade to a bigger MIG, I will NOT get rid of my MM210. It is a keeper.
Reply:I'm with Don. For as expensive as these units are, the Miller is not significantly more than the Hobart in price, and far excells it in capability. At this time, Toolking is not listing any reconditioned Hobart IM210s. The best deals on either brand in this class are going to be from dealers like IOC and BRWelder, and they'll all be listed on eBay.

Reply:I just checked eBay prices on new units with free shipping (and usually no sales tax depending on where you live) for another forum. The MM210 is only $130 more than an IM210. There's no contest. |
