Hey all - new to the group.  Hope I'm posting this in the right place.Looking for recommendations on a welder-generator.  I've narrowed it down to either a Lincoln Ranger GXT or Miller Bobcat 250.The unit will probably spend more hours running as a generator than a welder (rural area, with frequent and prolonged power outages). Both of the units seem to have similar features, and are roughly the same price.  Does one have an advantage over the other?  Miller advertises cleaner AC power due to the 10º skewed rotor.  Is this something worth considering, or is it advertising hype?  I don't want to end up frying any sensitive equipment in the house due to dirty power.Any help is appreciated. Thanks,Bill
Reply:I'd be very careful running anything in the house through one of these, make sure it's running through some sort of curcuit protection. As a welding machine I love the wee bobcat.Stephen

Reply:That transfer switch maybe all thats required, I'd ask an electrical if I was you.
Reply:I am also lookin for some serious backup power here in Southwest Florida. I currently have a Honda EB6500 For the House which was adequate (200' well, Pool, 2 window A/C everything else except for the Water heater, and Central Air conditioning.) for post Hurricane Charley. I am currently looking at the Bobcat 250 for Welding and to provide power for the next Hurricane. I would like to be able to kick the Central A/C next time. One Neighbor had a Trailblazer 301G Running two houses (2X window ac, lights, 2X Refrigeration, and tools ect.) After using his machine for welding I am sold on the Idea of welder/generator. I have had great experiences using miller equipment. Connecting the generator to the house wiring is the only way to go for long term power, Transfer switch or Main Breaker interrupt. Good luck with your search.
Reply:Ive got a bobus 225 and find it to be more than adequate.  It will handle the 7018 fine.  The 6010 is even better.  It does well on generator power too!  I think its a great lil machineIF it Catches...Let it Burn
