Reply:Hello JM.Someone who is a pro will probably be on to answer pretty soon.However, noticing your equipment (similar to mine), I don't think anyone is going to recommend welding anything other than hobby/art with the CH115.  You could do anything with a 240V buzz box (is yours 240v?), but it makes more skill.Good luck and I hope someone has more info.***************************************Lincoln AC225 stick welderLincoln HD100 WeldPak flux core wire feed welderThree of the cheapest grinders money can buy
Reply:thanks for the reply, but i am not intending to do business with just what you see in my present profile.... right now i am taking welding classes at the local Vo Tech school... i am welding 1 right now then i will go to welding 2. but i plan on having a Victor Ox-Act set, and i plan on upgrading my stick to a AC/DC welder, and a Miller 210 Mig. don't think i will get a TIG any time soon because of Monies and space at my present place. and may say after looking around to sell what i have and buy a Bobcat so i am portable and can do all processes with one machine... No what i have now is just starter/beginner stuff to learn on. wasn't meant in my mind to be the end all stuff... ya know.... Reply:Theres plenty of money to be made. Once it is known, work will come to you for sure. I have made good money making utility trailers and customizing trailers. I have been fortunate to work with aluminum and find alot of 'side' jobs. If I were to go at it full time and had access to the equipment I do now, I am sure I would make plenty of dough. However, if your employer has cool equipment and lets you use it, then thats great too. If I had to buy the different welders, benders, rollers and other equipment I would need alot of financing.If you are near retirement maybe you have a nest egg or vacation home to finance your business.Bill
Reply:Bill..... yep i am a Full Time Federal Technician working for DOD. i will retire from there in 7 Yrs. and that is why i am taking welding classes, so when i retire i can have another career until i start pushing up dasiy's. in  7 yrs that will put me at 60. so i figure i got a few good years left in me, and can get some of my contractor friends busy building hand rail for the front porch, and frame work for benches for the rear deck. and steps for the deck, who knows i might even weld together a spiral stair case or two... plus a few trailers, every now and then.... if a friend has something broke that needs welding, i can fix that as well... i got my A&P lic to fix airplanes back in 1981, and i am almost done fixing airplanes, it seems to me right now a lot more fun welding. now if i figure out a way to get the Wife to buy me a Miller Bobcat 250 for christmas i will be set.... LOL yeah right like that might happen.....
