I had a pacemaker put in , and the doctor told me not to weld anymore.Whats the connection between the welder and my pacemaker?? I love to weld.
Reply:E.M.I., Electro-Magnetic Interference.      I'm no doctor, (nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night), but if the EMI from my welder can fudge up the radio station for the stereo 30' away. I'd guess that it would have a some negative affect on the delicate micro circuitry in your pacemaker.I would also guess an errant accidental grounding, that would merely wake up most folks, could be lights out for you.Just a thought, but ask your doctor about wearing a lead apron, like what they put over your goods during an x-ray.Good Luck and stay alive. There are no small projects
Reply:Lead apron?  Nah, that won't really block EMI.The problem is EMI and the high powers involved in arc welding.Sorry dude, but I think that your welding days are done.
Reply:There's always O/A welding.
Reply:I'm almost scared to ask what o/a welding is!!
