lincoln welding school ?

Hey all I was just hoping you could all help me.  I wanted to get some info from anybody that had gone to the classes that lincoln electrical puts on for welding.  I just wanted to know if you thought it was worth it?   How much class time to weldtime and usual question to ask how much one on one with the instructor did you have.  It seems like the cheapest route to go at 4100 for there comprehensive program and I would like to learn and then get out to the field.  there are a ton of jobs for welders here in wyoming, but they all usually require welding tests and I want to learn enough not to embarrass myself.  I have been practicing but I dont want to pick up any bad habits and learn to weld right....   Thanks  for all the input you could give me  Sincerely Travis Hopkinson  [email protected] edited by travishopkinson; 11-17-2006 at 12:53 PM.Reason: wanted to recheck spellingon Fire most of the time
Reply:There was a post a couple of weeks ago where a guy was asking for a comparison of Lincoln to Hobart training course.  Don't know if he found a good answer.I would say go for it.  Lincoln is at the top of technology today with the Power Wave and STT, but they are rooted in old time fundamentals of pipe line welding.  Go in there with an attitude to learn everything you can, and make them teach you.  Maybe you can teach your future employer about dual wire mig and the money he'll save by hiring you.You could easily spend this money on worse investments, like women and lawyers.

Reply:naw  I am just back for what they call r&r  just about 15 days here and then back for about another four or five months depending on how hot it gets over there.  We were able to get the internet overthere and I read the welding web about everyday  Thanks to all you for your lessons on what to do, what not to do  Like getting on fire, and just your plain old good advice.  I will be back around april of 2007 and hope to go in may to start lincolns 15 week course just one thing want to know what is more useful the atsme version of pipe welding or the Api .  I guess there are two different approaches to welding pipe.  I worked as a welder helper right before I got activated for the guard and was learning alot.   And I am from Small town of Byron wy  But when I get back Probably moving to casper  More jobs in that area  Thanks guys for all the time you put Into the forums for us noobs The advice here flows like water  we just have to take a drink...  Sincerely travis Hopkinson on Fire most of the time
