It has been almost two years since my beloved bobcat was stolen and now I am finally getting me a new rig. My question is what is the going hourly rate these days for rig welders? Back then I was getting $50 phr and paying for my rods and fuels. per diem varied from job to job as I'm sure it does now.Just looking to see what I can expect.Building mudtanks and other oilfield equipment day by grueling day.---------------------------------------------------Victor preformerMillermatic 251Miller Thunderbolt 225Too many grinders and the likeGone but not forgotten Miller Bobcat 250Comming soon Lincoln Ranger 250
Reply:Sorry no wage help here, but…That’s a bummer getting your equipment stolen. With today’s cheap electronics, wireless and gps, seems like there would be an affordable simple tracking system developed. Wouldn’t that be nice to find your bobcat in action!?! I told the guy selling at the flea market; I like buying from you, most of your stuff is already engraved with my name!
Reply:I'm getting around 60-70 depending on what I am doing. That isn't bad for San Antonio.

Reply:Newby here from Wyoming but the going rate for "RIG" welders (own your own outfit) is $90 an hour. By rig I mean welding on drilling rigs, not much certification required. Pipeliners don't make but around $75 per hr with certification required. I did both for years running my own equipment.
Reply:By 'rig' you must mean owning your own portable truck?rates in alberta are 85 to 110/hour depending if your in the oilpatch or not.pipeliners up here make the 110/hour
Reply:Out my way i get 80/85/hr for mobile/shop work.
