and I need a welding bottle. I'd like to purchase one, but have heard that a lot of places will only rent bottles and not refill a bottle if you own one.Does anyone know of a refill place in Maryland that will refill a 40CF bottle that I own, with Argon?
Reply:You could look for an airgas near you (airgas.com), I've had absolutely no problems at all owning cylinders thru them. I've swapped cylinders bought online with them without issue as well.- john

Reply:if you are thinking about buying your own tanks, check ebay.I bought two for less than my local supplyer wanted for one.and these were new tanks.
Reply:Hey Rookie,That is exactly what I wanted to do, I just needed to make sure that I could have them refilled, and that the local supplier wasn't going to tell me he wouldn't refill it just because I didn't buy it from his business or wasn't renting from his business Originally Posted by rookieif you are thinking about buying your own tanks, check ebay.I bought two for less than my local supplyer wanted for one.and these were new tanks.
Reply:I'd just call airgas and ask them, I don't know if they operate the same at all their locations.
Reply:For anyone who comes upon this thread, I called their customer service like runchman said and they said that (company wide) they will do an exchange like propane, or fill yours if you leave it there ... no rental fee or any of that crap Thanks all! Reply:The cylinder on my TIG welder was bought from AIRGAS. This will eliminate the monthley rental fee. The same AIRGAS dealer that sells you the bottle can refill it. This does not mean any body will!Lincoln AC Tombstone Lincoln AC\DC Miller TIG OxyAcet Many Many Tools
Reply:I leased simply because if the valve goes bad...ain't my problem. Out of date...ain't my problem...you get the idea.
Reply:I own my tanks and don't have any problems with them. I simply take the tank in and they give me a new one. They never check the date or the valve.
Reply:Hey all,I just got a new 80cft tank for $66 bucks! I believe that's a good deal, I'm going to try and get a second, so I can have a backup if I run out of gas, and I'll get them filled at airgas ... thanks!
Reply:That's a hell of a lot cheaper than buying it outright from airgas, which is what this d*mbsh*t did. Something like $270 for the tank filled, if I recall correctly. Yikes!- John |
