while i was going through the lincoln sp-125 i bought from a pawnshop... i noticed the hose connected to the nipple nozzle had melted. is this common or a sign of something worse? i cleaned everything thing else in/out of the lines and it looks fine. even clean off the melted rubber on the nipple. i cut the end off the hose and tried putting it back on but it won't fit all the way. it's long enough but will only go about 1/4 way on. i've tried using needlenose pliers and my hands but it just won't go further. i know if i tried using a bottle the hose would pop off. just to clearify the part i'm talking about is where the hose connects to the gun motor. is there a trick to getting it back on? why would it melt in the 1st place? any suggestions? can i use a heat gun or heat from a lighter to soften the hose and slide it back on, maybe dishsoap??? i'm lost and new.. thanks for your helpLast edited by wazazzle; 01-13-2007 at 10:43 PM.IdealArc 250 AC/DC Roundtop225 AC/DC TombstoneSP175TO/A Linc-Harris Port a TorchTitan Vapor 90 5x Lincoln Helmets CH105 Mig21g comp, drills, grinders, buff/polishers, hvlp guns, etc.
Reply:I'm a newb as well, but from what I've gathered, you can't fix it, I'm sure that there is someone that can, like the factory? Check out your local supply house/welding supply, or even epay, shouldn't be but 30/40 bucks, I know it ain't what you wanted to hear, but it will be safer!JM.2, Bruce The Welding ChefLincoln Weld-Pack 3200 NORWELD StickStanford Hill Farm
Reply:If the hose is plastic you can try soaking it in boiling hot water and then slide it on thats what we do on those new plastic gas lines when repairing them. Will Supports Autism Awareness My ToysBobCat 225 PLusMillermatic 130Miller Spectrum 300 CutmateEverlast Power Tig 185 Micro April is Autism Month .
Reply:if you take a knife and bevel the inside of the hose it usually helps. soap as a lubricant also helps, but use it sparingly.
Reply:or soapy water works, I like the boiling water idea best though (itll shrink right back when it cools).Various GrindersVictor Journeyman torch200cf Acet. 250cf oxygenLincoln 175 plus/alpha2 gunLincoln v205t tigLincoln 350mpEsab 650 plasmaWhen you can get up in the morning, Its a good day.Live each day like its your last.
