Couldn't resist it. It cracked me up that I could buy a power tool for the price of a couple of beers. The Chinese are starting to undercut eachother. The grinder I use has been going for 15 years (I'm just a weekend welder), but I thought it would be handy to have another grinder so I don't have to keep changing discs. I might get another one, so I can have a grinding wheel one one, a flap wheel on one, and a wire brush on one.And there is a 12 month replacement deal, so when they burn out, they'll be replaced no questions asked - it's one of those big hardware stores that operates like that.Scott
Reply:I got one, actually 3 of those. First one lasted 2 days. #2 lasted 1 day. #3 went in the trash can. I wasted more gas running back and forth for a replacement tool.I was using them with a sanding disk, not as a grinder.
Reply:I suspect they won't stand up to much use. But I won't use it all that much. I'll see how it goes. I'm at the store weekly anyway, so it's no trouble to take it back when it fails.
Reply:I have 3 buffalo tools (checker automotive) $9.99 grinders... and I've used them until they're so hot I can't hold them, heavy grinding, wire brushing, flap disk, and even a cutting wheel at times.Love 'em.***************************************Lincoln AC225 stick welderLincoln HD100 WeldPak flux core wire feed welderThree of the cheapest grinders money can buy
Reply:i know people who buy them and each one has its own wheel, one for a grinding wheel, one for each grit of flap disc etc, apparently the flap disc and the grinder wears out at the same rate, pitch em both and start again.
Reply:I bought a grinder for $40.00 it was an 8amp grinder and came with 30 discs. For that price I couldn't say "no".Last edited by idontknow28; 01-29-2007 at 08:18 AM.
Reply:If it was from Harbor Freight, I bought one too. I picked up the 4.5" model with the orange housing. I used it all weekend and it worked great.
Reply:Chicago Electric grinders (HF) - love 'em and have one for each type of wheel. Great little units and they keep on chugging.John -  fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!-  bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:I have a Makita 4" grinder that I bought when Makita was a new thing !  About 1983 or 84 and it has been run hard it's whole life. It was the "industrial model" and I think I paid like $90 for it. I need a second one cause I get tired of switching from wheel to brush and back. Not a beginner, not a pro !
