Reply:Yep - very cool, I think I posted that last year. Some skeptics say it's fake but I'm not sure how you would make water come out of metal, unless it's very very cold metal and that's condensation.John -  fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!-  bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:Its the burn off of the hydrogen.  Looks like hes using a welder power source as his electrolysis machine to break down the water.  Still need alot of water, and it probably takes some time to get enough to use.Various GrindersVictor Journeyman torch200cf Acet. 250cf oxygenLincoln 175 plus/alpha2 gunLincoln v205t tigLincoln 350mpEsab 650 plasmaWhen you can get up in the morning, Its a good day.Live each day like its your last.

Reply:You guys should research this a little better. Jewelers have been using these on a smaller scale for years, it's not new technology. The water comes from burning hydrogen.  H2 + O = H2O. You will end up with exactly the same amount of water that you started with. There IS ALOT of BS surrounding this, it's no miracle. "Brown's Gas" is total BS, there is no unexplained magic involved. The gas isn't stored anwhere, it is generated as needed. It does take quite a bit of electricity though. I haven't done the math, but with today's prices for acetylene and oxygen, this may be a cheaper alternative. It is suitable for heating and welding, but I don't see how you could cut steel with it. There is only enough oxygen produced to sustain a neutral flame.  It's definately not a replacement for oxy/acetylene, but it does have its place.Miller EconotigCutmaster 38Yes ma'am, that IS a screwdriver in my pocket!
Reply:well i found a lil more info on it, watch this...dont mind the sales type feel to it.  i just watched it to find the explination to the whole thinghttp://www.waterfuelconverters.com/Videos/../100.wmvand the actual definition of browns gas as it is still hydrogen and oxygen together :"Scientific Answer:The scientific answer for the constituents of Brown's Gas is: The total mixture of gasses that evolve by electrolyzing water in an electrolyzer specifically designed NOT to separate the gasses. The BG mixture consists of diatomic hydrogen, diatomic oxygen and water vapor."Last edited by LSX89RS; 03-15-2007 at 02:21 AM.
Reply:seems feasable for a welding shop but, for transportation, probably not.  You still need electricity to separate the elements from the water and it has to come from somewhere.  Perhaps economy of scale will make it work in the future by using hydrogen storage tanks inside the car but, to carry a battery along in the car to produce hydrogen to fuel an internal combustion engine seems like going around your elbow to get to your thumb.

Reply:Questions left open in the Fox report (after looking at it a few times): If he is filling the tank with water, how is he seperating it? As far as anyone knows, the law of conservation of energy hold on our planet, and since energy is liberated when the gas mix burns, energy must be put in to seperate the mix.Does this guy have any understanding of chemistry? "HHO" is water. Alternate form to write the formula, thoght the more common alternate form is "HOH" (to show the H+ ion and OH- ion nature). How big IS that power cable going into the back of his seperator machine with the hoses coming out of it? Is his electric power free? Has he found a way to repeal the second law of thermodynamics? (first: You can't win, second: you can't even break even, third: you can't get out of the game. The second formally states that in any process the new entropy -- disorder-- of the system will increase. If it appears to decrease, such as seperating the water molecules, then energy must be going into the system, so you didn'tdraw your boundry big enough)Anyone else read the patent ap (the news report said he had a patent... all I find is the application.) What is a "magnecular" bond (see abstract, age one)? I never heard of this, so I checked with a couple chemists at work. None of them had, either. Any ideas? (a search of "science" and "Nature" web sights didn't show anything indicating a new concept)Enough of beating the whacko.... Stuck half way home from work by the weather so nothing else to do right now but drink coffee and surf th net...
Reply:It is just a hydrogen generator.  Uses water and electrolysis to make H2.  We used to use them to run the GCs in the pharmaceutical labs all the time.  Much more convenient than hauling around heavy cylinders.
Reply:I don't care what you guys think I WANT ONE!!!
Reply:enlpck, they use about the same amount of electricity as a good sized welder, and just like the welder they only use any electricity when you are using them. I don't see that being cost-prohibitive for the average joe. I know for sure that I've spent ALOT more on acetylene and oxy than I have for electricity to run welder.Miller EconotigCutmaster 38Yes ma'am, that IS a screwdriver in my pocket!
