when do you push a puddle - when do you pull? - what effect does each have? - thanks, ed
Reply:pull: most flux-bearing processes, more heat into puddle.push: GTAW, aluminum GMAW, and some steel GMAW, depending on machine and settings. What do you have to experiement with?
Reply:Push MIG will generally give you a flatter bead with less penetration. Good for thin stuff.Favorite right now is a Miller Syncro 200.Tons of tools and I blame at least one of them when things don't go right.
Reply:Mac - thanks - as a complete novice, are GTAW and GMAW both considered "mig" welding? - as for practice material, have not done my first weld yet - what do you suggest?PA - thanks as always.ed

Reply:I push flux core wire on light guage materialpull flux core/dual shield on structural material unless I am in a position where I have no choice.I always push stick and tig. |
