not welding

I'm a long time lurker and first time poster i know i'm off topic but this was one of the higher post count forums. I'm A steel detailer by trade and looking for some advise got a job offer in hatfield, pa and am looking for info about the area and cost of living. If I'm outaline sorry just looking for the most exposure I do weld for a hobby and draw a lot of weld symbols. By the way hatfield is about 25 miles from philly. Thanks for the help.

Reply:Hello riverfront.I live in Philly and used to live in Towamencin not far from Hatfield.  That whole area is real pretty and there are still places out there with lots of land if that's what you're in to.  Prices were still reasonable at least as of a few years ago (last time I checked).One thing you want to keep tabs on is property taxes out there.  I hear they are pretty high lately.  Good schools though.If you prefer more urban living, it's not a tough commute from Philly to Hatfield up the turnpike ("northeast extension").  Property taxes are still reasonable and there are plenty of good neighborhoods.  My wife and I are both city people types (prefer walking to driving, etc), so we're planted in Philly.Favorite right now is a Miller Syncro 200.Tons of tools and I blame at least one of them when things don't go right.

Reply:If you want to compare cost of living give us an idea were you are now. About 10 or 12 years ago I was offered a job at NAS Willow Grove Pa. about 40 miles from philly. The cost to rent a 1 bedroom apt then exceeds the cost to rent a 3 or 4 bedroom house  today in Southwest Missouri.
Reply:Thanks for all the info had already searched and found that site was looking for info on a more personal level. I took the job kinda blindly but I've always said I was looking a job when I found this one. I'm moving from St. Joseph, MO about 50 miles north of Kansas City, MO first day is the 9th of July.
