Hi everyone.Just wondering what people are using to cut a 45 degree angle on rhs. I was wondering if anyone uses a mitre block at all. I need to cut some30x30 rhs. Usually I just mark it out and use a hacksaw, but it never really is that accurate. Im thinking about making a mitre block with adjustable clamps to cut different size steel. Any thoughts on the idea. I often use a drop saw, but the one my mate lends me doesnt swivel to 45 deg.
Reply:I use a band saw. An adapted porta-band style actually. Made an adjustable jig just for angles.
Reply:Depends on the material but I usually use the chop saw on rectangular steel. Here's a thread about making jigs and such if your saw's vice doesn't swivel.http://www.weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=12440Favorite right now is a Miller Syncro 200.Tons of tools and I blame at least one of them when things don't go right. |
