Anyone know what causes a lens to just quit right in the middle of a weld? There is nothing obstructing the sensors and the batteries are new. My old lens did this repeatedly so I chucked it and the helmet across the floor after about two weeks of dealing with it. I got flashed about 10 times one day and just threw a fit like a two year old. So I switched out a lens from and older helmet and tried it and it does the same thing. Will they do this after they are old maybe? I have been with the company for almost 8 years and these lenses have been there the whole time.
Reply:maybe bad circuitry. just a guess... i've never dealt with an AD hood at all, but if there is a short/open somewhere, there may be an issue. if you can get to the circuit board, make sure it's clean with a cotton swap and some rubbing alcohol., then check the helmet for antyhing that could be damaging the lense/cicuit.Later,Andy
Reply:Clean the sencers on the lens they get dirty with smoke and stuff. They are small about 1/8"x1/8" and there is usually either 2 or 4 of them. Q tip and rubbing alcohol works good --Gol'
Reply:We had the same trouble and after many calls to the rep we figured out that the solar panal was not having enough time to charge the batery. Some of the guys did machining and welding so there hoods were in the box most of the time. We would set them out on a table or on the dock for a bit and no more trouble.
