I just recently took up tig welding and learned on a Miller 330P old clunker of a machine but a nice one. I was putting down a very nice bead. I purchased a Miller 150 STH and couldn't seem to get the same kind of results out of it as I did with the 330. With the 330 once I got a puddle going I could move forward for as long as I wanted and the puddle and filler would flow nicely. With the 150 I would start going forward with the puddle and after about an inch or so I would lose the puddle and have to keep backing up and when I was all done I had a very wide unsmooth weld. Inside corners were the worse. I went back to the 330 and had no problem at all. The 150 was plenty powerful enough, given to much peddle it would blow through the 11 ga crs that I use to practice on. The crs is all brand new clean material. The 150 is plugged into 230v single phase outlet where as the 330 is hooked up to 460 v 3 phase with a water cooled torch. Does anybody know why this is happening?  I have since sold the 150 but would like to get another machine but I'm a little gun shy. I do not have the space for a machine like the 330. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.
