I am just about to buy a Clarke 130 EN but before I do does anyone know if this is big enough for 1/4" Stainless steel. I am making some beer equipment out of 2" X 2" X 0.120" and saw these on ebay for a good price....Thanks
Reply:Welcome to the forum. It should do .120" easily. The measurement .120 is 1/8" material, not 1/4. John - fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!- bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:Thats what I meant...sorry it was real early. I meant to post if the Clarke 130 EN will weld 1/8" stainless. Can it do it one pass?...
Reply:The 1/8" SS material will typically take about 120-140 amps. The Clarke 130EN will reach that only for a short period (max. duty cycle). It can be done but you're not going to weld a 3 foot seam with it. John - fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!- bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:If you haven't done so, you might consider replacing the liner (unless the machine is brand new and un-used). You'll probably get mild steel contamination in your stainless from the residue in a used liner, and your welds probably won't look as nice as those made with a new/stainless use only liner. cricman |
