plasma cutting torches

I'm looking into getting a plasma cutting torch. what would be the best one for around $500? i am only going to be cutting metal a half inch or less. i just don't want one thats going to break right after the warranty goes bad. thanks,whitesid

Reply:i bought a cutmaster 38 and am pretty happy with it. it was a lot more than 500. i dont know much about the china ones, maybe someone else will chime in.

Reply:Consider an oxy/ acetalene unit if its for occasional use and in that price range.  I don't yet have a plazma cutter, but have pretty good luck with a torch and a grinder, but it takes a little longer and don't get the clean cut of course.

Reply:Many years ago a American company made a plasma torch that worked when fitted to any dc welding set with high frequency.I fitted one to a Miller 330 it worked well,im sorry i cannot the name,perhaps other members might recall this.
