Welding Show on Tonight.

There is a welding show on satellite TV tonight. It's listed on A&E at 4:00 p.m. Pacific time. That's Channel 120 on Dish Network. I've seen it before but I'll watch it again.Among other things, it has a very good demonstration of Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) as I recall. Reply:their was a welding show on the history channel last night. Also went into detail about submerged arc. I thought it was done very well and went into detail. well as much as they can for an hour long show going into just about every welding process.
Reply:It's really interesting to see the large number of robots that are utilized in the automotive industry nowadays. According to that show, one of the factories was said to have some 1,200 robots workng. Assuming that each robot probably does the work of 6 men, that's a lot of welders that didn't get hired. I recall when I worked briefly at the Fisher Body plant (Chevrolet) in Van Nuys, California many years ago, all of the welding was done by hand. I saw dozens and dozens of welders doing stick and O-A torch welding and body leading at that time.
