when heating rusted bolts what should the oxy/act guages be set at
Reply:Set the pressures for what the tip requires, apply heat as needed. It's going to depend on what you're using, cutting torch, large welding tip, rosebud, which fuel gas. Just about every name brand manufacture of torches and tips has a pressure chart online if you don't have the manual that came with the torch set.
Reply:For most purposes 35 to 40 PSI for oxygen and 10 to 12 PSI for acetylene. I use the same settings for my Harris rig and for my big Victors. Special circumstances will require changes, but this works well for a 00 through a #3 or 4 in most cases. I use more O2 for scarfing and really thick stock. This will work as well for heating tips all the way up to the big rosebuds provided you have the large hoses and big bottles. The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
Reply:Go by the mfg's. charts for the pressures for the tip you are using, there are no universal settings. JohnSMAW,GMAW,FCAW,GTAW,SAW,PAC/PAW/OFCand Shielding Gases. There all here. :
Reply:The same as if they were clean lol. For cutting up thru 1/2" I just keep them set at 10# acytelene and 40# oxygen. A good rule of thumb for A/O welding and brazing is set the regulators the same as your tip size. For example a number 4 tip would need 4 pounds of pressure on each regulator. In real life I just leave them set at 10 & 40 pounds. Those little valves on the torch are pressure regulating devices as long as the holes in the tip are open. Just set your flame neutral. |
