Miller Pro Performance Helmet Lenses

I need to change my lenses (inside and outside), ran all around town to look for some, but they were all out of stock, so I'm waiting for them to come in, so im hoping i can get an answer by then. Anyway.My question is. Can I change the glass lense, so i can see a different color when I'm welding? I used a speed glass today, and its a blueish color when im welding, and i can see alot better with it. But with my Miller Pro, its a dark green i suppose. Its not the shade setting, cause it just a brighter green or darker green when i change it. So im wondering what kinda or color glass im looking for?
Reply:You have an auto lens in your hood right?   The 'glass lens' is the auto lens itself and whatever color you see is characteristic of that lens.  Most are green, so yours in nothing unusual or anything to worry about.  If you want a different color, I think you'd have to buy another auto lens?   The inside and outside cover lenses should be polycarbonate clear.  If you put a regular fixed shade lens of any color in front of or behind your auto lens, then your view will likely be too dark to be useful.If you want to eliminate the auto lens and just go with a regular fixed shade lense in it's place, then you can get other colors to your liking.  The gold ones give a nice view.  The special shape/size of the Miller and Optrel cover lenses is one reason I chose Jackson over the others (also because I was already use to welding with Jackson fixed shade hoods before I decided to try an auto).   I'm sure the Miller and Optrell hoods are great to weld with, but the odd-shaped/sized cover lenses seemed like something that might be expensive or hard to get when I need them.  The plain old flat, standard-size 2x4 and 4x5 cover lenses to fit the Jackson, Huntsman and most other hoods can be found at any local welding shop anytime for dirt cheap.Last edited by DesertRider33; 03-04-2008 at 08:09 PM.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
