does anyone have a link that provides dimensions for structural steel. For example  the radius for square tubbing and angle iron etc.
Reply:I have several paper references on steel sizes and weights. I'd be happy to scam and email them to you if you tell me where to send them. PM me.As far a radiuses goes the only thing that I see is a small note at the bottom of one of my structural charts for square tube that lists that the properties are based on a nominal outside corner radius of 2 times the wall thickness. This table from my structures book says its adaped from "Manual of Steel Construction" AISC
Reply:A few weeks ago I was looking for the very same thing online and had no luck. That doesn't mean it isn't out there but every one of them I went to required a subscription. You might try the aws site. I just paid a visit to my local steel supplier. Many of them have the tables in booklet form and give them away to customers. The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
Reply:DSW,thanks for the note  on the radius, that was what i was looking. It's kinda of shocking that i couldn't find that on the net.
Reply:the aisc manual is the steel shapes dimensions  bible. lots of the construction standards  do not appear free on the net, you get instructions to buy the manual not the info you seek. im thinking of SMACNA but AISC is the same.
Reply:JR, try EFunda and Engineer's Edge. they are free (somewhat) and have helped me quite a bit at work. they may not have what you are looking for, but they may help a bit.DS, as far as the radius on angle iron, whenever i draw them, i try to keep it a nice fluid shape. note the drawing:the inside radius tends to be somewhere close to the thickness of the stock. the ends are usually just rounded over, which would make their radii half of the thickness. the outside corner is usually sharp in my experience (very limited).hope that helps.Later,Andy
Reply:try this site .. there are many catalogs available online.http://www.russelmetals.com/english/...cts/index.html
Reply:If you need EXACT dimensions you will never be satisfied.  The mill tolerances are quite large.  for example a 3 inch angle could have a leg length ranging from 2 7/8 to 3 1/8.  Designers often frustrate themselves because they have unreasonable expectations.
Reply:Here you go :http://www.roymech.co.uk/Useful_Tabl.../Angle_dim.htm(angles)http://www.roymech.co.uk/Useful_Tabl...dex.htm#tables(everything else)A good guess is better than a bad measurement

Reply:For a start:Steel tube literature (standards, load tables, dimentions, etc): http://www.steeltubeinstitute.org/hss_literature.htmAll kinds of structural: http://www.russelmetals.com/english/...cts/index.htmlA historical point of view (much of which is still relevant): http://books.google.com/books?id=KBl...=cambria+steel
