First post....did I do alright?

My sister's boyfriend let me use his Cambell Hausfield Farmhand wire fed welder this past weekend and it was the first time I ever used one.   Just learning from scratch with his help and reading these forums.Well tonight I came across a welder on ebay and sprung for it....I think I got a good deal for a welder that I will be using on hobby stuff and around the house.  Seem like an ok price?EBAY Link to my new welder.Thanks ahead of time for all the usefull info contained in this forum....it's very helpful and makes the learning curve that much easier.

Post some picts of your welds and settings after you get your machine and we'll let you know how you are doing. The link isn't showing me what you paid or ever a pict. From the title it looks like a 110v Lincoln mig. Post what you paid and we will let you know how good it was, bearing in mind we can't see it. (or at least I can't).A 110v mig is not bad to learn on. Power is readilly available. However it does have some serious limitations on material over about 1/8" thick. If you just want to learn and build some small non structural projects you should be fine. Take a look at thethreads in the sticky on 110v migs to understand some of the limits and why. However expect to find yourself wanting a bigger machine as you learn more and find more projects. ( This happens to all of us. We always need a new machine for one reason or another.)BTW If you can, I would take a nite class at your local votec school or CC. You will learn much faster and save yourself a lot of frustration learning onyour own.

Reply:hmm not sure why link doesn't work for you.  The welder is a Lincoln Pro core 125 that appears to be pretty new.   Hopefully it is in good operating condition, I figure If I have to pay a few dollars to get it going it would still be a good deal.  I paid 122.50 and then 44.95 shipping.   I know I looked at this same welder at Lowes a few days back and it was 429.00I will have to look into taking a welding class locally.....probably wouldn't hurt if I wanted to get into the Maintenance department at my job.

Reply:Now you will need to post pictures of what you weld. Go get a nice Jackson BIG window welding helmet, the "thing" that is coming with that wont help you much. Me!
