Im doing some figuring on duty cycle of some different Mig machines which are all based on output amps. Millermatics, Powermigs etc.About how many amps do you run on 1/4 mild steel and for 3/8 when your mig welding? Tell me what machine your using also if you don't mind.Usually there is a chart on the inside of the machine but I haven't went and looked at any yet. Also if anyone has ever done 1/2 mig welding. What amps are you using.
Reply:Chad,GMAW mild steel in the short circuit transfer.1/4" base, 1 pass, .035 wire, 19-21 volts, 140-160 amps, wire feed speed 280-320 in./min., gas flow 25 CFH 75% argon 25% Co2, travel speed 10-15 in./min. for flat and harizontal, reduce by 10-15% for vertical up and overhead.3/8" base, 1-2 passes .035 wire 19-21 volts, 150-160 amps, wfs 290-320 in./min., gas flow 25 CFH Co2, travel speed 6-7 in./min. vertical up 1/2" base, 2-3 passes .035 wire, 20-22 volts, 160-170 amps, 320-350 in./min., 25 CFH Co2, TS 5-6 in./min.getting into 1/4"-3/8" and above base you can bevel the weld joint and decrease the amps/wire speed to 110-130 amps 190-240 in./min. this will be a multi pass weld. The above settings do not take into account a bevel. I use a Lincoln SP-130T 220 v input @ 170 welding amps MAXHope this is of some Waldo |
