I saw this on ebay, and was wondering how safe is this?
Reply:What is it, a radio or something?
Reply:Why would someone want a hood with fans in it? when your welding and standing in the smoke plume you are already breathing to much bad stuff why would you want fans sucking more into the helmet. Just always make sure you can get proper venalation and you shoud be ok. i wouldn't even consider it. and that fan is going to let light in i garantee it.Last edited by Go1lum; 07-13-2008 at 01:05 PM. --Gol'
Reply:Incredible. I bet it weigh's a tonne. looks like an Ipod Nano with a set of speakers? Not to sure how many shops will allow you to wear that.. I have had a hard time getting away with wearing one headphone. And as already stated.. fans would just force feed the smoke into your lungs.
Reply:The person who did that to the helmet should have done that to their own head and sent the helmet to me.
Reply:its safe for your eyes... but when your sweating buckets do you really want electronics strapped to the top of your head?http://www.aloumac.ca/
Reply:I like the iPod idea and the fan would be nice if it was inside the hood, or supplied fresh air. But I weld with the shop radio on high or have ear buds.Me!
Reply:That fan idea is EXCELLENT! Especially for production welding like I used to do... lots of small tacks and short welds, not a lot of smoke, but wow did it get hot in the summer. 'Would have loved some air circulation on my face. What I really need is some sort of fan around my mouth because when it's really hot my breath always fogs up the lens."A winner isn't someone who doesn't lose, a winner is someone who doesn't quit."
Reply:how does one power something like that? i think they are computer fans with some sort of switch. i'm no electrician so i was just wonder how u could power it. wouldn't it mess up if u had to much power? i'm thinking a couple triple or double A bats or a 9V would be good. i wouldnt listen to music because its a distraction.
