Used price on a Bobcat 225...?

Found a Bobcat 225 locally, says its atleast 5 years old but didn't know for sure.  Pics show it to be faded by the sun and it has some concrete spatter on it.   Says it's 8500 watt.  I looked at a 250 which was 11000 watt and it was about $3300 new.  He's asking $1700 for this one....what do you think? I will need to power a Passport, a Cutmaster 52, and a Dynasty 200dx.....of course never all at once.Asking $400 for the leads and $700 more for the trailer......but just concerned with the price of the Bobcat.   Thanks! Reply:The serial # looks like kk322301 if that relates to a year at all....maybe 2001?The hour meter reads 1410.  Don't even know if that's like a car having 50,000 or 100,000 miles?  The seller is the 2nd owner so I don't know it's maintanance history.Thanks
Reply:I figured this up one time for my Ranger 250. Compared the engine rpm of the welder to the rpm of my car at 60 mph and went from there but that has been a few years and I've forgotten the exact figures. Seems like 50 hours on the welder compared to about 4000 miles on the car with it's gearing. I decided the 50 hour oil change interval for the welder wasn't excessive with that information. If I had compared it to my diesel pickup it would have been quite a few more miles as it's gear ratio is a lot different than the car.
Reply:I bought a trailblazer 301G for $1600 with trailer and leads.  tell him you have cash and throw in the leads or something.
Reply:Around here about $1500 tops for a machine in that shape.  I sold one with right at twice the hours but looked almost brand new for $1000.  Considering the appearance of the machine, (concrete spatter, Sun faded which tells you it was probably never covered or under a shelter).  I would warrant a guess that they were not the best at regularly servicing.  Usually how a machine looks will tell you how well it has been cared for in my experience.  What does the oil look like in the machine when you pull the stick?  I personally would tell him $1700 for the machine AND cables if they are in good shape.  That is if you really want it.  I will add that with the onan engines I have gotten well over 3000 hrs each out of the three I have owned and never had much of a problem with any of them so the machine still has some life left in it.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......

Reply:That is a steep for a machine in that condition. I am thinking around 1000 for the machine itself and a couple hundred more for the cables.Hope you have good luck bargaining.I don't really understand why you want to run a dynasty 200 with it. That machine will DC tig pretty good by itself with an argon bottle and a torch.
Reply:Just for aluminum, AC.  Yeah, after thinking about it I'd rather not for that price.  All of my welders, etc look brand new....even ones that are several years old.  Guess it was local so it sparked some interest.  Thanks for the advice!
Reply:You really want a trailblazer class of machine to do aluminum. And for that price you can find a used trailblazer.

Reply:Sold my used trailblazer 2 years ago for $1800.00 with only 55 hrs on it.I was trying to help a fellow out I I really needed the money.Now that was a win win situation I felt.John
