I have just bought a Beta Mig 200 and have a wire feed question.I can adjust my voltage with no problem, but no matter what setting I go to on the voltage 1 to 8 ( that will alter my penetration) but my wire feed will only give me a good weld with the wire feed on # 1. If I go any higher it will not melt and just push from the work with a lot of pops. My input voltage was measured with the welder actually welding and it holds at 220 volts. On the #1 of the wire feed setting there is a good crackle and is even and the weld really looks good but I do not think I am getting the penetration that I should be getting. This test is on 1/4" flat iron, very clean. The Hobart is on the LOW setting, as is called for in the instructions, but they also say I should be able to go up to 4 or 5 on the wire speed setting? It seems that I may not be getting the correct amperage increase with the speed of the wire increase?? I do not have a manual and Hobart no longer has it on its web site, so I am going on the information on the back of the wire wheel panel cover.By the way I cannot find a serial number on the unit? where is it supposed to be?Larrywelder |
