I'm a newbie TIGger, have done a little of it under the guidance of a friend, using an older Miller Synchrovave 250. I am to the point where I want to buy my own, and am looking at two TIG's that are priced $14 apart at my local welder supply store. One is a Miller Synchrowave 200 TIG Runner, and the other is a Lincoln Precision 225. They seem to have very similar features, warranty is the same, the Lincoln has a higher current rating (230 amps vs 200), and both are American made, near as I can tell. I already own a Miller AC/DC stick welder, and a Lincoln MIG, neither of which have ever given me any trouble. Therefore, I cannot make a decision based on my experience with the two manufacturers, and would like to solicit any comments any of you may have regarding which of these might be a better choice. It may well come to a toss of the coin or a "$ per pound" decision. The Lincoln is 20 lbs heavier and $14 less. I have included links to each of the welders, so if you can spare a minute or two to look them over and made comments I would appreciate it.  http://www.mylincolnelectric.com/Cat...t.aspx?p=39581http://www.millerwelds.com/products/tig/syncrowave_200/
Reply:Personally i preffer miller TIG machines over lincon. very stable arc, easy to control. machines are very ergonomic and nice to use, not to say lincon isint, i just think miller makes the better TIG machinehttp://www.aloumac.ca/
Reply:I haven't used a Lincoln TIG in a number of years, but I remember always having to remove and dress the spark gap electrodes.  With Millers, every year I open up the box and make sure they're still there.  Maybe every few years I'll pull them and dress them up with crocus cloth. Both are good machines, both will last a long time.(but I do like the blue)Regards, KbnitI r 2 a perfessional
Reply:I looked at both machines and even tired them out. Both are very nice welders but I am going with the Miller. the sycrowave has a couple more features and has a higher duty cycle. Just my 2 centsMiller DVI2Lincoln Precision Tig 225Thermodynamics Cutmaster 38Everything else needed.
