there is a company here that is looking for structural welders. They put out that they would have a test of 7018, on 1/2" plate, in 3 positions. When they say positions I am guessing they mean vertical, flat, and over head right? But do they usually do fillets? or butt welds or what? I have never done a weld test before so I dunno what to expect should I take up the call heh. Also it says in the job description that you will be welding on membrane. What does that mean?
Reply:Depends. Could be flat, vertical, horizontal, overhead, open root v groove, v groove with backing, etc etc. All depends on exactly what it is they're looking for.
Reply:Ask to see to a spec sheetMaybe that will help. Actually the place I have gone to calls it a WPS work Procedure Sheet weld it like you own it
Reply:If it's a military-associated company, maybe it's Standing, Sitting and Prone!
Reply:that spec sheet, I can just go ask em for that? Hell Imma just call em tomorrow mornin and see what they say. Thanks ya'll, also the military thing, nice haha.
