I have to weld a piece of 1/2" AR plate to a 1/2" plate of unknown. I think the unknown is mild steel by the dents of .45 auto being as deep as they are. I know you have some experience with this and was wondring what rod or wire you used. It's a portable job but I can go either way. The plate is to be welded in an overhead angle to existing backstop plate. Thanks in advance, Bob
Reply:I've welded AR plate to other materials using 7018 or 11018. May require a little preheat prior.
