anyone have hair still on there fingers? noticed that you dont burn anymore?  or maybe you have learned how to position your self not to burn,   any non glove'rs  out there? my left hand almost never has hair on my fingers and my pointer for sure...
Reply:I avoid welding without gloves whenever I can. I just got tired of burned fingertips. Most of my tig is what I would call 'Dirty tig.' I cut, grind, shape, fab, etc all at once, and so I am grabbing a grinder, cleaning of metal shards, and welding all at once, rather than having an assembly line of clean parts to weld on. So.... I never take the gloves off.And then, after so much work...... you have it in your hand, and you look over to your side...... and the runner has run off. Leaving you holding the prize, wondering when the runner will return.

Reply:Gloves are for safety, not style or comfort.  I wear them both when welding.  They do not impede my abilities in any way.  I find that the wire slides in a gloved hand better than in a bare hand anyway.
Reply:Yeah I say cover up. I wear safety glasses under my hood as well. I make an effort to put  in ear tampons...you know the ear plugs you squeeze and roll up...when welding overhead. I always wear gloves when working and welding. My friend tried this the other day and got some serious arc burn on his left hand...guess who went out and bought some new TIG welding gloves. Now I will grant you he is new to TIG...but he is certainly NOT new to welding.'Mike
