I just got a lincoln mig-matic 250. and when I push the botton on the gun, the feeder runs slower than the setting, then speeds up to the set speed! anyone ever had this problem? i added a video link below. http://s276.photobucket.com/albums/k...Picture231.flv
Reply:Turn the machine off, press the trigger, and turn the machine back on, wait a couple of seconds and you may here a couple of clicks from the machine. this may turn off that slow run in speed function. Now that little trick doesn't work for every 250, might work for yours though. On some early machines, you can't turn off that function, but its normal.
Reply:My Wirematic 250 does the same thing and its supposed to.  It helps get the arc started.  Once the welder sensed the arc has started, it speeds up the wire to what it is set at. If you set it to start at full speed it may go POP....POP, then weld like normal.Cruizer knows his stuff!David Real world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:ok thank you! I didnt know! because i have a power mig 140 also and it doent do that! plus if you hear in the background, it has a loud hummm. but hey! if it works like a champ for $200 im happy
Reply:My SP250 does that at times.  Nothing to worry about.  When it stopped feeding altogether, I had to replace a circuit board.   $$$$$$
Reply:So that's why my crappy little Hobart pops when it starts, then settles down to push wire.  Always wondered about that. Thanks guys"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
