Hello Everyone, Hoping somebody can answer this query as I just happen to have a Lincoln SP-170, I have read on a U.K. forum that the Lincoln SP 170 is fine for the mig brazing used on the newer car body panels that are pressed from boron steel. Apparentley this is because the volts/amps curve is very close to the synergic programes used by specialised welding sets, The chap posting this information uses 1mm CuSi wire and claims excellent results, Thank You Gordon.
Reply:More arc brazing! So is 'ol boy feeding the electrode manually, or automatically with a wire feeder?Maybe we need another WeldingWeb field study.
Reply:Hi,denrep, He is using the normal wire feeder fitted with a roll of 1mm CuSi wire, I think it costs about 150$ for 5lbs. I think in the U.K. this is the only legal way to repair cars with thinner Boron steel panels,Thanks, Gordon. |
