Hi there,I'm just a hobbiest, but using arc welding for several years now. Though I can't still weld as excellent as the pros, but doing average in most of my projects at home.I just want to know more on the difference between welding in AC & DC mode? I had been using an old Miller Thunderbolt 225 CC-AC Welding Power Source which has only Arc AC source, though I got it brandnew during that time. Can someone help me evaluate this issue? before I get a unit with DC mode machine?Regards,5Zero

Reply:I just turned the corner to DC. Been runnin' AC for over a decade. I'm really likin' it.I don't intend to abandon the AC side of my machine though. I can run bigger than 1/8 rods on AC. I have a motor drive machine, but I don' t even dream of runnin' it for the bulk of the work I do. It's too damn expensive to run. Lot cheaper to run on the grid.If you're like me. A Lincoln 225AC/125DC or the comparable Miller machine will serve you well. Don't let folks push ya into a machine that's more than you need. Sure it's nice, but how many times are you actually gonna benifit from the added goodies."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/ |
