First stick weld

Been jacking around with a small mig for awhile, but figured it was time to move on to stick and tig. Picked up a lincoln precision tig 225. No argon bottle yet so i tried it as stick.First stick weld ever. Machine set at 80 amps DC+ rod was 3/32 6013.Pretty Huh?Turned the amps down to 70 and was soon gettting beads like thisThe machine didn't come with an electrode holder, I will have to pick one up, so I used the tig tourch as the holder. The welds where on a scrap piece of 3 inch schedule 40 pipe.I have a bottle of C-25 for the mig, I am guessing that ain't going to work on the tig and a will have pick up a bottle of straight argon. Suggestions or critiques?
Reply:you stuck a stick electrode into  the torch collet ? would love to see that... did it hurt the torch?

Reply:Saw the link about a week ago.The guy's a little snooty about 6013  I just recently made the switch to 7018, but it don't mean I'm tossin' all my 6013 in the garbage.  The poor lil' guys are much maligned  For the not so hot stuff I make, they still have a place.Hope you get your rod holder soon"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:Dont feel bad.  6011/6013 is the backbone of the Agricultural IndustryMost of us are better at steppin' in sh##, than we are at weldin'.
