I am looking at a new helmet and i cant decide between a elite dig. or a vista. Any help would be great. Thanks
Reply:I myself like the Miller Elite but the Vista is a damm good helmet also. Much of your decision depends on your budget.Try going to both manufacturers site and print or write out what you llike about both then do same for the dislikes. then do you side by side comparison.Co-Own CNC shop:Miller :1251 plasma cutter, MaxStar 700 TIG/Stick, & XMT 456 Multiprocess Welder.&  2 Hypertherm HPR260's Plasma CutterSorry I had a bad stroke but now I am back.
Reply:Don't forget to look at the Jackson... I just bought one.  Tough as nails and fit my budget better than the elite.  A little cheaper than the Vista.  I would have rather had the full view Vista, but the problem was no one locally wanted to sell it.Esab Migmaster 250Lincoln SA 200Lincoln Ranger 8Smith Oxy Fuel setupEverlast PowerPlasma 80Everlast Power iMIG 160Everlast Power iMIG 205 Everlast Power iMIG 140EEverlast PowerARC 300Everlast PowerARC 140STEverlast PowerTIG 255EXT
Reply:I ve got the elite and love it(its very light).  The jackson and vista look like good choices also.  Its going to come down to your budget.Lincoln 255XT Power Mig                                                                    Lincoln Precision Tig 225Hypertherm Powermax 30
Reply:The Vista is Solar powered.  A good feature...no batteries to worry with.  The Jackson uses 2 AAA so you can walk down to the local C-store and buy a couple when it dies.  With the other kinds, the battteries are not always that easy to find.  It could put you in a jam until you found the correct battery.Esab Migmaster 250Lincoln SA 200Lincoln Ranger 8Smith Oxy Fuel setupEverlast PowerPlasma 80Everlast Power iMIG 160Everlast Power iMIG 205 Everlast Power iMIG 140EEverlast PowerARC 300Everlast PowerARC 140STEverlast PowerTIG 255EXT
Reply:FWIW: I won't buy another AD that isn't 'auto on'. Mine shuts off at 30 minutes. Every once in a while, my welds are 31 minutes apart. Sometimes it catches me. 9-11-2001......We Will Never ForgetRetired desk jockey. Hobby weldor with a little training. Craftsman O/A---Flat, Vert, Ovhd, Horz. Miller Syncrowave 250
Reply:I have an Elite and love it. Another thing to consider if you can is heading out to some weld supply places and try the helmets on, see how they fit ya.Yup
Reply:I have both.  OK I HAD an elite and lost it .  So this time I bought a Vista 3000.  It was $50.00 cheaper.Elite has infinite adjustable shade, sensitivity, and delay.Vista is digital.   Slow or fast, and slow is slow.  Shades 9,10, 12, and 13.  Sensitivity:  Regular, TIG and Grind.Vista does have a bigger window.Vista weighs more.I would buy another Elite.David Real world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Elite but mine was free, so i get the best deal on it. --Gol'
Reply:I am looking online and there is about a 100 dollar price difference between the vista 2000 and the elite digital. Is it worth it? Thanks
Reply:I prefer the Elite myself. But its whatever is best for you. I recommend finding a local dealer and trying them side by side if you can. If you can't then go with the Miller Elite you'll never regret it. Reply:talked to a guy and he recomended this helmet. anyone use it? Thanks http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=46092
Reply:Had mine for 5 years.  It is tireless and extremely lightweight and has one of the most comfortable headbands I have ever tried. It has been dropped, slammed, kicked, thrown and melted.  There are a couple of versions.  The "western saftey" that I had have both a sensitivity and a time delay slide switch on the inside as well as the adjustable shade..  A new"HF" version only had the adjustable shade on the outsideEsab Migmaster 250Lincoln SA 200Lincoln Ranger 8Smith Oxy Fuel setupEverlast PowerPlasma 80Everlast Power iMIG 160Everlast Power iMIG 205 Everlast Power iMIG 140EEverlast PowerARC 300Everlast PowerARC 140STEverlast PowerTIG 255EXT
Reply:Hi mark123 yes that is a good helmet to buy! I use it as my backup and also have another for around the Farm shop. My Main helmet for the cnc shop is the miller eliteSee if you can find and use one of those Harbor Freight coupons.Co-Own CNC shop:Miller :1251 plasma cutter, MaxStar 700 TIG/Stick, & XMT 456 Multiprocess Welder.&  2 Hypertherm HPR260's Plasma CutterSorry I had a bad stroke but now I am back.
Reply:I can't really comment on an Elite but I did have a chance to try out a Vista. Like others I found it a bit heavy next to the SpeedGlas I usually use. I also think the SpeedGlas has and edge in optical clarity. I also now have a Jackson BOSS lens in a Miller shell and have been really liking that combo but it is a lil too fresh to give any real feedback... I'll let ya know in a few months...

Reply:There sure seems to be one heck of a diff between the high end and low end sonsors work. The cheapo HFs' seem to wink and blink every time the light changes, even when you step outside into the sun etc.. Then of course there's no way I could live with a solar only unless the arc light can run the lense.
Reply:The arc DOES run the lens.  The Lincoln has no batteries, after about 6 months the Elite batteries get low, but don't die .  After that, I have to push the reset button to before I use the first time of the day or I get a flash.I have 3 harbor freight helmets.  The two without sensitivity and delay adjustment are useless for tig, the other one works fine and is light.  I use it quite a bit.  DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Thanks. I may run by harbor freight and check them out. Thanks again.

Reply:My vote is for the Elite!I have one, not one of the ones that has a fancy design, just a plain black one and love it.Ken.#1. If you don't like what I wrote, or if it offends you, then don't read it!#2. I am living life the way I see fit, if you don't like the way I'M living, tough sh**!
