I pointed my buddy to what I thought was a good deal on a used Passport on Craig's List and as it turns out it appears the machine may be stolen.   I've seen it advertised a few times here lately and it keeps disappearing popping back up.  Passports on Craig's List are an extremely rare find around here.  Anyways, finally my buddy called on it, talked to the guy and his girlfriend a couple times about it, got 3 different stories on it, then as soon as he asked for the serial number, all the sudden the story changed again and the guy wasn't selling any welding machine and it must be a wrong phone number.   So, if any of you have had a Passport walk away recently in southern California, it may still be around.   This machine is near San Diego.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:Your friend should report that to both Craigslist and the police, giving them the phone number which was on the site or which they sent him, and the Email addresses, etc. The police may show no interest, but Craigslist likely will.

Reply:If it was nearby to me, I would have driven over there already, wrote down the serial number (if it hasn't been removed from the machine), the address and the license numbers of any cars parked on the property, called Miller, the county sherriff's office and the local police office of the city the seller is located in to find out if it's been reported stolen.  Although, who knows where it was stolen from and what agency it may have been reported to.  There are alot of various local police agencies in this county and it may not even be from this county.  If it pops up again and I have time to go check it out, I may drive out there and do just that.   I am not going to report it to craigs list cause I would rather it pop up again sometime than be lost forever.  I doubt craigs list will actually do anything about it besides send an email to the ad poster warning about selling stolen merchandise.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:It wouldn't take Dick Tracy to locate and ID the machine and seller, if there's no tip-off ahead of time. Alfred or I would do it as a community service, if it was nearby.
